| 3 Rivers Venture Fair (3RVF) Bootcamp Information
Date: Thursday, August 13, 2009
Sponsored by:

The 3RVF Bootcamp takes place on Thursday, August 13th at PNC Park in Pittsburgh. This is a mandatory event for all presenting companies.
Two (2) representatives from each presenting company will be permitted to attend. One of the representatives must be the person who will be presenting at the Fair in September.
WHAT IS A BOOTCAMP?
The 3RVF Bootcamp is a mandatory event for all presenting companies and is one of the primary factors behind the Fair’s reputation as an exceptional investment showcase.
In essence, the Bootcamp provides the opportunity for presenters to “practice” their presentations and obtain valuable advice from a seasoned panel of investment professionals, which helps to maximize their opportunities at the event. During the Bootcamp, presenters will be briefed on important instructions, equipment and venue, including:
- Start/Stop Signals
- AV Equipment Briefing
- Room & Event Layouts
- Exhibit Information
- Presentation Time
While the Bootcamp is an extraordinary learning opportunity for entrepreneurs at every level of growth, it is also a safeguard against embarrassing and potentially damaging situations. In years past, we have had to remove a presenter awkwardly when they did not recognize their cut-off signals and another presenter experienced an untimely issue with the AV equipment, which would have been avoided with a practice run at the Bootcamp. The Bootcamp helps to ensure that every attendee and every presenting company has the most pleasurable and productive experience possible.
While the Bootcamp is first and foremost, a preparatory activity, its value as a networking, business-building event cannot be overstated. Throughout the day, presenters will have the opportunity to talk one-one-one with investors, sponsors and representatives from other featured companies. For many, the Bootcamp is one of the most rewarding elements of the event.

Since 1989, KFMR Katz Ferraro McMurtry, P.C. has worked with technology and life science companies in providing accounting, tax and consulting services from start-up through growth. In fact, KFMR worked with the first venture-backed technology transfer company from CMU from its inception in 1989 until it was sold in 1994. Through our experience, we have learned that as much as these companies share common opportunities and challenges, they are equally distinct with their own unique characteristics — making it difficult, if not impossible, to compare or benchmark technology or life science companies with one another. As a result of our work with numerous venture-backed companies, we’ve experienced and mastered the common matters, while having the vision and prowess to navigate the uncharted waters, seeing companies through to the profitable stage and beyond.
With a seasoned, highly credentialed and diversified talent base, we are able to provide a broad scope of services to technology and life science companies such as audit and accounting services; budgeting, forecasts and projections; due diligence; strategic tax planning and compliance services; strategic business planning; accounting software systems evaluation, installation and training; assistance with debt and equity financing; financial system design and implementation; business valuation services; general business consulting; transaction advisory services; and CFO/Controller services.
In addition to our knowledge, ability and resources, our clients know us for the responsiveness and care we demonstrate — not just in the engagements that we perform — but in the relationships which we establish. Our objective is to learn and understand the issues that affect your business so that we can assist with your needs as well as look beyond the books to help you improve your overall business and financial position.
